What's new
The results of a recent survey conducted by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Chronic Pain Society (ACPA) regarding the experiences of patients with chronic pain who visit emergency rooms have been released. The report highlights both the good news, that most people with chronic pain generally get pain relief fairly quickly, and the bad news, which reflects frustration with a lack of information to help patients manage their pain and a lack of primary and speciality medical care for pain. Dr. Knox Todd, Director of the Pain and Emergency Medicine Institute and editor of EM Painline, is a board member of ACPA and active in the development and analysis of the survey. Please contact him if you have any questions about it.
